Minimalist fields of liquid color. These simple fields are unique for their illusion of depth. Elegant, expansive translucent washes of color feel like you could fall into them, submerging yourself in a sense of calm that transcends daily existence.
This collection of images reminds me of landforms, sea or skyscapes.
I should mention that I play with brains identification system when I title my artwork. The titles are based on what the finished image reminds me of, rather than referencing the props in the field of view, because I am interested in capturing the light and reflection coming off the items, not the props themselves. You may see something entirely different.
My obsession with these images stems from never knowing what I will find next. The pattern and structure of the energy of light can separate and reconfigure into what appear to me as infinite possibilities.
Narrative, typical means photographs that tell a story, these are a little different. More like inkblots in a Rorschach test. The light and shadow almost seem to draw a picture that reminds me of something. Once discovered, I crop them with the lens during the photography session to coax them forward.
Soft focus photographs that give the illusion of being painted.
Occasional I find a unique composition that intrigues me. This ongoing series of photographs is not realism in the traditional sense, but they are not my usual optical phenomena either. I refer to them as realism because there are identifiable objects in them and their titles often suggest what is going on in the image.
I have found there are reoccurring themes in my work, this grouping of images comes from one of those themes. Images that remind me of the expanse of space, planets and discovery of new worlds.
